Mopar cruise-in damp but successful

Car owners munched free hot dogs and popcorn and stared out the big doors at the Erwin Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership at the rain falling on their prized cars - no doubt thinking about the task of wiping the show vehicles dry when, and if, the rain ever stopped. The annual Troy cruise-in was the victim of inclement weather.
"Last year we had over 80 cars," said sales manager Jeff Blackburn. A quick count placed this year's entrants at just under 30.
Blackburn said the dealership started the car show three years ago when it realized that a large number of car collectors live in the area. "(Owner) Ron (Erwin) has collected cars for quite a few years and we just thought it would be a good event for the community," he said. "We give away door prizes and various awards as well as free hot dogs, food and pop. "We invited all makes, even though we are a Chrysler dealer," he continued adding that the show normally draws a lot of Mopar vehicles. The show accepts donations which then benefit the Troy United Fund. "We have a good car show, we just can't beat the weather," Erwin said.
